What began as a conversation about whether Windham needed another service organization quickly grew into a thriving new Rotary Club. Following a highly successful informational meeting on September 24, 2025, that attracted more than 50 interested community members, a group of dedicated charter members came together to establish the Windham Rotary Club. Since then, the club has remained committed to serving the community through meaningful projects and continues to grow its impact. As the club looks to the future, it welcomes anyone interested in service and community involvement to join a meeting and learn more.
The Windham Rotary Club has begun planning its Charter Celebration, which will be held on September 1, 2026, at The Windham Restaurant. The event will feature a buffet dinner, heavy appetizers, dessert, and cocktails, with organizers working to keep ticket prices at or below $50 per person. Planning is underway for invitations, marketing, budgeting, and the evening's program, and several volunteer opportunities are available to help make the celebration a success. The event will serve as an opportunity to recognize the club's accomplishments during its first year and thank the members, supporters, and community partners who helped establish and grow the club.
We currently have $5,800 in the bank, with approximately $1,800 in dues and fees to be paid out in July to both Rotary International and Rotary District #7870. This gives us some room to fund some modest donations, to pay for other club-related items, or to support our own fundraising efforts.
Our current membership stands at 16, with Michelle Cole and Shariq Yousfi recently stepping away for personal and business reasons that prevent their active participation. We continue to market our club's activities in order to attract more interest. In addition, we welcome referrals of acquaintances and people that you have come across through work or living in Windham. Lastly, we are attempting to receive full participation in a member survey that seeks to understand where we need to make some course corrections. We will share the survey results in July.
